In brief
The Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 was marked by the opening of a garden for blind people. This park was chosen because of its proximity to the Birmingham Royal Institute for the Blind college for blind and visually impaired children and adults on Court Oak Road; the college was renamed the Queen Alexandra Technical College for the Blind in 1958.

Queens Park - history
Queens Park was opened on the 5th October 1898 by the then Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Alderman C. C. Beale Esq.

The Freehold of the park was purchased by the people of Harborne under the auspices of The Harborne Charity Fete Committee and presented to the City Council in commemoration of the 60th year of the reign of Queen Victoria.

There is a play area / playground close to the corner of Queens Park Road and Court Oak Road.

There is also a basketball court and tennis court, to the south east corner of the park.

The park is on the no 24 bus route on Court Oak Road. Buses towards the Harborne High Street and the City Centre.
