Joseph Lucas Monument

On parkland close to Lucas Circus between Great King Street North and New John Street West is a slate sculpture made in 1994  in memory of Joseph Lucas and Lucas Industries.

It is made of slate.

It is on the site of what was the Tom Bowling Lamp Factory that was located on Little King Street from 1872.

It is a single slab of slate with a 120cm diameter circle of slate section set into the ground, on a block paving circle 300cm diameter. The texture varies across the stone from rough to smooth

It is by the edge of a large roundabout

The Lucas factory was located to the north of this memorial. The texture varies across the stone from rough to smooth. Lucas Industries left the site for good in 1996. By the end of the 1990s, the land was developed for housing and parkland.
