Rowheath Park and Rowheath Pavillion, Bournville - A thriving heart of community

Rowheath Park is located in Bournville, Birmingham. Between Selly Oak Road and Heath Road. The park has lake for fishing. Rowheath Pavilion was built in 1924 and is Grade II listed.

Rowheath Park is located between Selly Oak Road and Heath Road in Bournville, Birmingham, B30 1HH

 

In brief

The Bournville Village Trust developed about 75 acres at Row Heath Farm into a sports ground from 1919. Rowheath Pavilion opened in 1924 as part of a sports and park complex. It was designed by John Ramsay Armstrong. There used to be a lido at Rowheath from 1937 until the 1970s. The park features a lake which is popular for fishing.

Rowheath Pavilion - history

A sports pavilion built in 1924 to the designs of John Ramsay Armstrong.

A rendered building with colourwashed brick walls.

Built of two storeys.

The south-eastern side faces over a slowed lawn which leads to a boating lake.

The north-western road front is also symmetrical.

Facilities include a cafe, space for the community and sport.

Also here is the Rowheath Pavilion Church.

A lake in Rowheath Park, suitable for model boating or fishing.

There is also benches to sit at around the lake.

General look around Rowheath Park

There is a path, but you can also walk over the grass if you want to. Some young trees.

Beyond the lake, a path leads to a gate on Heath Road, the pavilion is not that far away from here.

Transport details

There is a private car park on site from Heath Road.

Bus stops for the 11A and 11C are a short distance away on foot on Linden Road in Bournville.

About a 20 minute walk from Bournville Station on Mary Vale Road.
